Beekeepers from Vâlcea County will gather on Tuesday in front of the Prefecture to protest against the difficulties faced by the beekeeping sector.

Organizations from the Biomelifera Frâncești Beekeeping Association and the Scundu Beekeeping Association, beekeepers will submit a petition with seven demands, including the elimination of the tax on approved beekeeping vehicles and the reduction of VAT on beekeeping products. The president of the Biomelifera Association, Gheorghe Dumitricu, emphasized the negative impact of economic and climatic factors on honey production, mentioning the difficulties encountered in accessing subsidies and support programs.

Beekeepers are also calling for measures to protect Romanian beekeeping, including the establishment of a national reference laboratory for honey and stricter controls on honey imports.
