Traian Băsescu says that the MAGA movement has collapsed in the US, following the Republicans' result in the midterm elections

Traian Băsescu commented on Facebook on Wednesday on the partial results of the U.S. midterm elections, after Donald Trump’s Republicans suffered significant losses. The former president of Romania says that the MAGA movement was rejected by Americans and that the election results show the weakening political position of the leader of the White House.

“MAGA rejected by Americans! The MAGA movement has collapsed at home. Americans could not be fooled,” Traian Băsescu wrote in a message posted a few hours after the first results began to take shape.

He also commented on the American president’s political future. “Trump will remain at the helm of America only as a lame duck!” Băsescu said, reiterating a prediction he had published earlier, according to which Donald Trump will leave, while America will remain.

Partial results indicate important victories for Democrats, including in states won by Trump in the 2024 presidential election. Democrats have taken seats previously held by Republicans in both chambers of Congress and, according to the information presented, have secured a majority in both the House of Representatives and the Senate.
