Traian Băsescu commented, in an interview for Digi24, on the incident with the Russian drone that flew over Romania and crashed in Vaslui County, emphasizing that Romania has failed to shoot down any Russian drone that entered its territory. He stated that the situation is becoming ridiculous and suggested that there are two reasons for the lack of action: either the lack of appropriate equipment or the inability to effectively use the existing equipment.

Băsescu criticized the authorities for not taking action, stating that a respectable country would not allow Russian drones to freely fly over its airspace. He also mentioned that Russian President Vladimir Putin is testing Romania's reaction, highlighting that, despite being equipped with fighter jets, Romania has failed to shoot down any drone. Băsescu concluded that this situation reflects a serious problem in national defense.
