Former president Traian Băsescu commented on the results of the elections for the Capital City Hall, emphasizing that the score obtained by Anca Alexandrescu, the AUR candidate, reflects a reluctance of voters towards extremist parties. Băsescu stated that, despite polls indicating support of 40-50% for AUR, the actual result was around 20%, demonstrating that voters sent a clear message to the party led by George Simion.
Ciprian Ciucu, the leader of PNL, won the elections with 36% of the votes, exceeding the expectations of the polls, under conditions of a turnout of 32.70%. Anca Alexandrescu obtained 21.94%, surpassing Daniel Băluță (PSD), who finished in third place with 20.5%. Cătălin Drulă (USR) ranked fourth with 13.90%. Băsescu suggested that the losses of Băluță and Drulă are the result of the negative perception of the parties they represent, mentioning the duplicitous attitudes of the PSD leader as being disgusting to the electorate.
