Aptiv Ineu, the largest employer in the Ineu area, has announced the layoff of approximately 900 employees, according to the notification registered with the Arad County Agency for Employment (AJOFM). The layoffs will take place after December 10, and local authorities will organize job fairs to assist the affected employees. Mayor Călin Abrudan explained that the factory is closing due to low profitability, relocating its operations outside the European Union. The closure of the factory will impact the local budget, but there are advanced discussions with other investors who could create new jobs.
AJOFM will seek solutions for the reintegration of the laid-off employees into the labor market, including professional retraining courses. Since the beginning of the year, approximately 2,000 people from the county have been notified for collective layoffs.
