In October 2025, the National Sanitary Veterinary and Food Safety Authority (ANSVSA) issued alerts regarding the contamination of certain food products in supermarkets in Iași and other cities in Romania. Among these is the linden honey 'Strop de Soare' from Apicola Costache, contaminated with chloramphenicol, an antibiotic banned in the EU for food products of animal origin. Customers who purchased this product are advised to return it or destroy it, receiving a refund in lei without the need to present the receipt. Additionally, ANSVSA warned about the product Fasole cu cârnați Maestro (350g), withdrawn from Carrefour and Profi stores due to a complaint regarding a foreign body. Furthermore, another product sold in Selgros was withdrawn due to exceeding the values for opium alkaloids.
