ANSVSA inspectors conducted a large-scale control action from March 24 to 30, checking over 3,000 markets, supermarkets, warehouses, and public food units. As a result of these inspections, over 2 tons of food, including meat, dairy, fish, and vegetables, were withdrawn from sale and destroyed.
The authority imposed 130 fines totaling 1,449,600 lei, 70 warnings, and five orders to suspend or prohibit activities. Dr. Alexandru Nicolae Bociu, the president of ANSVSA, emphasized the importance of food safety, especially during high consumption periods, and assured that inspections will continue daily until April 11, covering the entire period leading up to Orthodox and Catholic Easter.
