ANPC has imposed fines of over 4 million lei on fish traders, following national inspections.

The National Authority for Consumer Protection (ANPC) conducted inspections at the national level between April 20 and 24, checking over 1,300 economic operators.

As a result of these actions, serious non-compliances were identified, especially with perishable products, such as fish. ANPC commissioners imposed 869 fines totaling over 4.17 million lei and issued 611 warnings. They also permanently halted the sale of non-compliant products worth over 110,000 lei and temporarily suspended the sale of other products worth over 400,000 lei.

Among the identified deficiencies are fish sold as fresh, but with altered smell and appearance, as well as degraded frozen fish. The inspections also revealed inappropriate marketing conditions, including the lack of slicing authorizations and the display of fish alongside confectionery products. Additionally, equipment and commercial spaces in an advanced state of degradation and dirt were discovered.
