The National Authority for Consumer Protection (ANPC) conducted, on December 8 and 9, 65 control actions at large retail stores in Bucharest, resulting in fines of approximately 3.2 million lei (640,000 euros). Inspectors permanently removed over 4,000 kg of non-compliant products from sale, valued at over 75,000 lei, and temporarily suspended another 3,000 products, valued at over 121,000 lei. Among the irregularities found are products with expired expiration dates, the presence of bloody liquid in meat packaging, fruits and vegetables with organoleptic changes, discrepancies between the country of origin mentioned on labels and transport packaging, as well as differences between the prices displayed on shelves and those charged at the checkout.

Other issues included the use of inappropriate refrigeration units, misleading commercial practices, and the lack of displaying prices and necessary information for consumers.
