The National Authority for Consumer Protection (ANPC) conducted control actions from March 23 to 27, 2026, at over 1,700 economic operators in Romania, aiming to ensure compliance with consumer protection legislation.

The controls targeted sectors such as commerce, public food service, and the distribution of food products.

Following the inspections, ANPC imposed 1,429 contraventional fines, totaling over 6.83 million lei, and issued 778 warnings. Non-compliant products worth over 370,000 lei were permanently withdrawn from sale, while other products, valued at over 4.4 million lei, were temporarily halted from sale. Common irregularities included the use of expired disinfectants, improper hygiene, and inadequate storage of perishable goods. Additionally, the activity of 32 operators was temporarily suspended.
