The commissioners of the National Authority for Consumer Protection (ANPC) conducted over 1,700 inspections on economic operators, resulting in fines totaling over 14.4 million lei. Among the irregularities found are the sale of expired food products, discrepancies in weight for pastry products, as well as non-compliance with storage temperatures.
Additionally, plant-based products with mold and discrepancies between the country of origin on the shelf label and that on the packaging were found. Almost 1.2 million lei in non-compliant products were stopped from being sold, and the activity of 38 economic operators was temporarily suspended. Other non-compliances include the lack of measuring instruments, the use of worn equipment, and the lack of correct information for consumers.
