The National Meteorological Administration (ANM) has issued a heatwave alert, extending weather warnings until Wednesday morning. The yellow, orange, and red codes affect almost the entire country, with temperatures reaching up to 41 degrees Celsius in the west.
On Monday and Tuesday, the heatwave will persist, and the temperature-humidity index (THI) will exceed the critical threshold of 80 units. The counties of Satu Mare, Bihor, and Arad are under a Red Code, with temperatures of 37-40 degrees, and thermal discomfort will be heightened. Additionally, other counties will be under Orange and Yellow Codes, with maximums of 33-38 degrees. Warnings will also extend on Tuesday, and the heat will affect other regions, including Muntenia and Dobrogea.
Europe is facing a major heatwave, and ANM emphasizes that these temperatures are comparable to the absolute records of August.
