Andrew Tate received Vanuatu citizenship through a $130,000 investment program as recently as December 2022, when he was being held in Romania on serious charges. The documents were formally issued in January 2023, while he was on remand. Vanuatu does not have an extradition agreement with Romania, and the EU has revoked its visa-free travel agreement with the country because of concerns about wanted persons obtaining passports. Tate faces multiple charges in Romania and the UK, which he denies.
