The Agency for Monitoring and Evaluating the Performance of Public Enterprises (AMEPIP) has announced the initiation of rapid checks at 847 public authorities, aimed at verifying compliance with the legal procedures for selecting directors of state companies and local administrations.
These checks are part of Romania's efforts to meet the commitments made under the National Recovery and Resilience Plan (PNRR), aimed at reducing provisional appointments in public enterprises. AMEPIP will identify the individuals responsible for delays in completing the selection procedures and will impose sanctions if necessary. The results of the checks will be communicated to the public after the process is completed, reaffirming the agency's commitment to transparency and accountability in the selection of public enterprise management. These measures are intended to support the stability and efficiency of the public sector, as well as Romania's credibility with the European Commission.
