In 2024, Romania reported 5,347 work accidents, an increase of nearly 12% compared to the previous year, and the number of fatal accidents rose by 20%, reaching 108.

Construction is the sector with the most accidents, both fatal and non-fatal, according to Eurostat. Experts emphasize that non-compliance with safety regulations and legislative gaps contribute to these alarming statistics.

Law 10/1995 does not include the use of safety nets, which are essential for preventing accidents. Additionally, the Labor Inspection imposed over 1,000 sanctions in June for non-compliance with safety regulations.
