According to the Minister of Health, Alexandru Rogobete, accidents involving electric scooters have significantly increased in Romania, with 2,751 presentations to emergency services in 2025, compared to 1,491 in 2024.
Of the 2,751 patients who presented to the Emergency Room in 2025, 354 required surgical interventions, compared to 190 of the 1,491 registered in 2024.
The most affected are individuals under 20 years old, with 646 cases in 2024 and 1,611 in 2025. Additionally, two deaths have been recorded.
In the first months of 2026, already 89 people have presented to the Emergency Room, of which nine required surgical interventions.
Rogobete emphasizes the importance of preventing accidents and adhering to clear rules for the use of electric scooters, considering the serious impact of these incidents on health.
