The Permanent Electoral Authority (AEP) sanctioned political parties with fines totaling 1.66 million lei and confiscated 19.5 million lei following controls on the financing of electoral campaigns from 2024-2025. Former candidate Călin Georgescu received the highest fine of 200,000 lei, while AUR was responsible for the largest amount confiscated, over 13 million lei. Expert Forum emphasized the need for tougher sanctions and an effective legal framework to ensure financial transparency.
