A serious accident occurred on a road in Timiș, where a truck loaded with ammonium nitrate overturned, prompting the police to urgently evacuate people from the area within a radius of 500 meters due to the risk of explosion. Two trucks and a car were involved in the incident, and one of the truck drivers sustained minor injuries.
Representatives of the Environmental Guard also arrived at the scene to assess the situation, considering that ammonium nitrate, used in agriculture, can become flammable. The danger associated with this material is well known in Romania, especially after the devastating explosion in Mihăilești in 2004, which resulted in the deaths of 18 people. Authorities continue to monitor the situation and take necessary measures to ensure the safety of residents.
