On the Transylvania Highway A3, in Bihor, a section of approximately 3 kilometers between Chiribiș and Biharia will be arranged for exceptional use as an emergency runway for aircraft.

The project, which includes a straight portion of the highway, allows for the landing and takeoff of aircraft in special situations. The works on the 28.5-kilometer lot are carried out by the association Precon Transilvania and Citadina 98 and are financed from European funds, having a contract of 785 million lei. The physical progress is 65%, and transport officials estimate that traffic could be opened in December, five months earlier than the contractual deadline.

Gabriel Budescu, the director of CNIR, emphasized that the works are on schedule, without blockages, and that there is a desire to maintain quality.
