The quake struck at 18:10, 25 km northwest of Focsani and was felt in several nearby towns. In July, Romania recorded 11 earthquakes with magnitudes between 2.1 and 3.7. The biggest earthquakes this year were 4.4 on the Richter scale in February and May in Buzău and Vrancea counties respectively. Last year, the strongest earthquake was 5.4 in Buzău.
