A magnitude 3.1 earthquake occurred Friday morning in Suceava County

A weak earthquake, with a magnitude of 3.1, occurred on Friday morning at 4:09 local time in the Moldova region, Suceava County, according to the National Institute for Research and Development in Earth Physics (INCDFP).

The earthquake occurred at a depth of 21.4 kilometers, and no damage or casualties have been reported so far. The earthquake occurred near several localities: 34 kilometers south of Suceava, 58 kilometers south of Piatra Neamț, 65 kilometers south of Botoșani, and 87 kilometers south of Roman.

According to INCDFP data, since the beginning of September, 12 earthquakes with magnitudes ranging between 2 and 4.1 have been recorded in Romania. The strongest earthquake to occur in Romania this year had a magnitude of 4.5 and was recorded on February 26 in Vrancea County.
