A 19-year-old man from the commune of Runcu Salvei, Bistrița-Năsăud County, is being searched for by dozens of police officers, gendarmes, firefighters, mountain rescuers and volunteers after he went out with the animals to pasture and did not return home. The search began on Wednesday and is continuing on Thursday in areas outside the built-up area of the locality.
Constantin Alin-Ionuț left home on September 29, around 9:00 a.m., with the sheep. The animals returned on their own, and his family reported him missing via 112 on September 30. Approximately 50 police officers, gendarmes and firefighters are taking part in the operation, alongside canine units, mountain rescuers, representatives of the volunteer service for emergency situations and local residents.
A diver team from the Bistrița-Năsăud Emergency Situations Inspectorate is checking nearby lakes, while mountain rescuers are preparing to use a thermal-imaging drone. The search is being hampered by the large area and dense vegetation. A female bear and her cubs had recently been spotted in the area.
The young man is approximately 1.70 meters tall, weighs 65 kilograms and has brown hair. When he left, he was wearing a green top and blue trousers. People who have information are asked to call 112 or contact the nearest police unit.
