A 19-year-old student at a police academy in Bistrița-Năsăud has been detained and remanded in custody after driving under the influence of alcohol and causing a fatal accident. On July 21, 2025, he crashed into an overpass and overturned, resulting in the death of an 18-year-old passenger and injuries to others. Toxicology tests showed significant alcohol intoxication. Investigations are continuing under the supervision of prosecutors.
