On Wednesday, 172 Romanian citizens returned to the country from Israel, using a private charter flight organized at the request of the Ministry of Foreign Affairs (MAE), on the route Taba (Egypt) - Bucharest. They were accompanied by mobile consular teams up to the Egyptian border, where they were taken over by the staff of the Romanian Embassy in Cairo for formalities and boarding.
Out of a total of 490 Romanians who requested assistance, 318 returned via charter flights, and 4 were evacuated from Jordan with a flight organized by Slovakia. The MAE continues efforts to assist Romanians in Oman and the United Arab Emirates, where an extension of legal stay and accommodation for tourists has been obtained. Also, in the UAE, flights are organized on 'security corridors', but some flights to Bucharest have been canceled due to deteriorating security conditions. The MAE recommends that Romanians constantly check the websites of airlines for any rescheduling.
