A 17-year-old teenager was found unconscious in the Făgăraș Mountains on Thursday, in the Lăițel Pass area, along the main ridge trail. Mountain rescuers from Argeș and Sibiu, together with Argeș mountain gendarmes, intervened quickly to provide first aid and stabilize the young man.
Due to the critical condition and difficult terrain, air support was requested, and the teenager was extracted and taken by the SMURD helicopter to the hospital. The mountain rescuers emphasize the importance of adapting the pace of walking to physical preparation and proper hydration on ridge trails.
Additionally, another recent incident involved the rescue of an 80-year-old man on the trail to Moldoveanu Peak, who had separated from his group and ended up on a wrong trail. The mountain gendarmes reminded that on the mountain, no one should be left behind, and support in moments of exhaustion is essential.
