The 13-year-old student accused of attacking a teacher and two classmates with a knife at the “Ștefan cel Mare” Middle School in Bistrița was discharged on Tuesday from the Child Psychiatry Hospital in Cluj-Napoca and brought in for questioning at the headquarters of the Bistrița-Năsăud County Police Inspectorate. The attack took place on October 19.
That same day, the school sent the County School Inspectorate the decision of the Teachers’ Council and the Board of Directors regarding the student’s expulsion. According to chief school inspector Vasile Șteopoaie, he will be able to re-enroll starting with the next school year, but at a different educational institution.
The Bistrița District Court issued eight protection orders against the boy, at the request of the injured teacher and seven students. The 28-year-old teacher was hospitalized for one week.
The orders are valid for 12 months. The student must keep a distance of at least 50 meters from the victims, their homes, and the school where the attack occurred. He must also wear an electronic monitoring device at all times and is prohibited from contacting the victims, either directly or indirectly.
