Between June 2 and August 28, INSP confirmed 13 cases of infection with the West Nile virus, with most cases in Bucharest. The most affected individuals are elderly, with five cases in the 70-79 age group. Other cases have been reported in the counties of Timiș, Dolj, Ilfov, Galați, Prahova, Sălaj, and Vrancea. In the context of this situation, INSP has issued recommendations for preventing infection, which include protective measures against mosquitoes.
