The Olympic pool in the Lia Manoliu National Complex, which is in an advanced state of degradation, will undergo a major renovation, with a budget of 100 million lei approved by the Ministry of Development. The works for the consolidation, rehabilitation, and modernization of the covered swimming and diving pools must be completed by 2029.

The pool has been closed since 2018 due to unsafe conditions, and athletes, including champion David Popovici, have complained about the lack of adequate facilities. The modernization project will include the rehabilitation of heating, ventilation, and water filtration systems, as well as the construction of stands for spectators. The works will take place over an area of 12,000 square meters, and the Ministry of Development hopes to attract contractors for the execution of the project.
