Notably absent is The Joe Rogan Experience, the most popular podcast of 2025, which did not receive any nominations.

Additionally, although several conservative podcasts, such as The Megyn Kelly Show and The Tucker Carlson Show, were included on the shortlist, none were selected. No political podcast, including Pod Save America, was nominated, and Up First from NPR was the only news show on the list. The true-crime genre was also excluded, with popular titles like Crime Junkie and Morbid not receiving nominations.

The nominations focused on personality-based content, such as Call Her Daddy, which has become an empire in podcasting. The three nominated titles come from SiriusXM, with one each from Amazon, Spotify, and NPR. This is the first time podcasts have been included as an award category at the Golden Globes, and the initial list was determined by the Golden Globes' data partner, Luminate. Mel Robbins commented on her nomination, emphasizing that it is never too late to change your life.
