The Spotify platform announced on Thursday the launch of the 'Verified by Spotify' label, intended for human artists, which will be awarded based on specific criteria. This label will indicate that the artist or group is a human being, not an AI avatar. Profiles associated with AI-generated artists will not be eligible for this distinction. Spotify will evaluate the artistic footprint of musicians outside the platform, including concerts, merchandise, and social media activity, as well as listening trends, favoring stability in popularity.

This approach is different from that of Deezer, which signals AI-generated content. Spotify representatives emphasize the importance of authenticity in music in the AI era. The label does not affect the distributed musical content, allowing verified artists to publish AI-generated music. Additionally, Spotify is committed to combating the manipulation of recommendation algorithms. Deezer has reported a significant increase in AI-generated titles, but their listens remain minimal compared to the total.
