Kenneth Iwamasa, the personal assistant of actor Matthew Perry, was sentenced to 3 years and 5 months in prison for his involvement in the actor's death, caused by the administration of ketamine.
Matthew Perry was found dead in the jacuzzi in the backyard of his home in Los Angeles in October 2023. Iwamasa pleaded guilty to conspiracy to distribute ketamine, collaborating with two doctors to provide the actor with drugs worth over $50,000. Judge Sherilyn Peace Garnett emphasized that Iwamasa was aware of Perry's addiction issues and attempted to conceal evidence after his death.
In addition to the prison sentence, Iwamasa received two years of supervised release and a $10,000 fine. Perry's family expressed a lack of compassion towards Iwamasa, accusing him of abandoning a vulnerable person. The case involved multiple defendants, and authorities claim that the group exploited the actor's addiction for profit, which led to his death by overdose.
