Lenny Kravitz was not aboard the Learjet 60 plane that crashed Sunday in Palm Beach County, Florida, the artist’s press agent said Monday, after the false information went viral online.
Carleen Donovan told Variety magazine that reports claiming the rock star was among the nine people killed in the crash were “untrue and inaccurate.” The plane was heading to the Bahamas and crashed onto a sidewalk shortly after takeoff. The passengers’ identities have not been officially announced.
The rumor originated from a post published on the X network, attributed to pilot Emily Shelton, who allegedly wrote that she was going to transport Kravitz from Austin to the Bahamas. Shelton, however, denied piloting the aircraft or being aboard and asked users not to spread speculation about the tragedy.
The Palm Beach County Sheriff’s Office is investigating the causes of the crash.
