Clive Davis, a legendary music executive, has passed away at the age of 94, confirming that he died peacefully at home in Manhattan due to age-related issues, surrounded by family.
Throughout his career, Davis influenced the careers of iconic artists such as Janis Joplin, Bruce Springsteen, and Whitney Houston, winning five Grammy Awards. Although he was not drawn to music in his youth, he started as a lawyer and quickly became the head of Columbia Records, without any formal training in music. He was recognized as one of the greatest hitmakers, signing big names like Barry Manilow and Billy Joel.
The secret to his success, according to David Foster, was mutual respect for artists, and Manilow described Davis as an inspiration for the entire music industry.
