The 0 euro banknote, an innovative idea by Richard Faille from the 1990s, was designed as a souvenir sold in museums and tourist spots. It mimics the production techniques of real banknotes, being made from pure cotton paper and having security features such as watermarks and holograms.

Although it is not a legal means of payment, the banknote has gained popularity, becoming a sought-after collectible item. The usual price is 2-3 euros, but certain rare versions can reach up to 500 euros, such as the one featuring the city of Kiel. The variety of designs, which celebrate historical figures and pop symbols, contributes to its appeal, and collectors are increasingly interested in these customizable souvenirs.
