The organizers of the Montreal WTA 1000 have announced the withdrawal of two important players, Paula Badosa and Arina Sabalenka, the world number 1. Although Paula Badosa's absence due to injury was expected, the Belarusian's withdrawal came as a surprise, due to fatigue. Sabalenka and Badosa will be replaced in the main draw by Caty McNally and Moyuka Uchijima.
