Due to record temperatures of 33 degrees Celsius and high humidity, the organizers of the World Athletics Championships have decided to move the start of the walking and marathon events forward by 30 minutes. This measure comes after a season with extreme weather conditions, which led to the hospitalization of over 3,300 people for heatstroke in Tokyo. Temperatures of 31-34 °C are expected over the weekend, and the organizers will set up 185 hydration points along the route and will install cooling tents for athletes.
