Ugandan Olympic athlete Rebecca Cheptegei died in Kenya after her boyfriend allegedly set her on fire.

The head of the Ugandan Olympic Committee confirmed the tragic event, saying: 'We are saddened to learn of the passing of our Olympic athlete Rebecca Cheptegei... following a violent attack by her boyfriend.' Rebecca, aged 33, suffered burns to 80% of her body. Doctors at the hospital where she was being treated confirmed that all her organs had failed. Police said the man, identified as her partner, allegedly doused her with gasoline and then set her on fire.
