UEFA announced on Saturday that it made a severance payment to an employee who is said to have had a relationship with Gianni Infantino, former secretary general of the organization and current FIFA president. The information, reported by The Guardian, suggests that the woman received a considerable sum, also covering the fees for an MBA program.

FIFA has rejected the allegations, stating they are "categorically untrue" and emphasizing that there have been no complaints regarding Infantino's behavior. He worked at UEFA for 16 years, serving as secretary general from 2009 until 2016, when he was elected FIFA president. UEFA stated that the payment was in accordance with the regulations at that time, which have since been amended. Infantino is going through a difficult period, facing criticism regarding the organization of the World Cup and a controversial plan to sell stakes in the management of the competition. Elections for the FIFA presidency are scheduled for March 2027, and Infantino intends to run again.
