Tiger Woods announced on Tuesday that he is stepping back to receive treatment, four days after being involved in a car accident in Florida, where he was arrested on suspicion of driving under the influence of alcohol. In an interview, Woods stated that it is necessary for him to prioritize his well-being and work towards a sustainable recovery. He pleaded not guilty in his case, and the police report indicated that he was found with pain pills and showed signs of impairment. Woods explained that he has undergone multiple surgeries, including seven on his back and over 20 on his right leg, which affects his mobility.
He also refused a urine test but agreed to a breathalyzer that showed no signs of alcohol. Woods, at the age of 50, will miss the Masters tournament again, where he was set to participate in a ceremony, and emphasized that he is committed to taking the necessary time to return healthier and stronger. Augusta National Golf Club stated that it supports Woods during this difficult time.
