The Reuters agency has put forward the hypothesis that UEFA, CONCACAF, and AFC are discussing a vote of no confidence to dismiss the current FIFA president, Gianni Infantino. The discussions began on the sidelines of the UEFA Super Cup, where rumors of an institutional revolution were circulating.

An anonymous source stated that Infantino must decide between not running for the elections in March or accepting a motion of censure. The FIFA Council can convene an extraordinary Congress if 211 member associations submit a written request.

Although UEFA and CONCACAF have not officially confirmed the vote, they have emphasized the need for a thorough analysis of FIFA's leadership. Despite these tensions, Infantino enjoys support from some FIFA members, including CAF president Patrice Motsepe, who stated that his future should be decided by FIFA members in elections.
