Superbet, the main sponsor of Romanian sport, has announced that it is withdrawing completely from the financing of sport, culture, education and health because of new tax regulations that significantly increase the taxation of the gambling industry. The company believes that these measures will lead to a migration of users to the black market and severely affect the legal industry. The withdrawal will mean the loss of around €22 million annually in sponsorships, affecting competitions, clubs and educational initiatives. Superbet points out that Romania has one of the toughest tax policies in the EU and the decision will have a negative impact on the country's attractiveness to foreign investors.
