Sorana Cîrstea, qualified in the second round at the Miami Open, after defeating Shuai Zhang

Sorana Cîrstea defeated Shuai Zhang 6-3, 6-4 in the first round of the WTA tournament in Miami.

The match lasted just over an hour, and Cîrstea demonstrated solid play, pulling ahead in the first set after a balanced start. In the second set, the Romanian led 4-0, then ceded a few points, but managed to finish the match with 40-15 in the final game.

In the next round, Cîrstea will face the Czech Linda Noskova, the tournament's favorite.

Additionally, Jaqueline Cristian advanced directly to the second round after Emma Răducanu's withdrawal, benefiting from a more accessible path.

Gabriela Ruse will also play in the first round against Antonia Ruzic.
