The Dutch Football Federation has decided to part ways with coach Ronald Koeman from the leadership of the Netherlands national team, after the team was eliminated by Morocco in the penalty shootout in the round of 16 of the World Cup. Koeman's contract is ending, and the Federation has chosen not to offer an extension.
Dutch media consider Arne Slot, the former coach of Liverpool, to be the favorite to take over the national team. Slot is a free agent, having won titles with Liverpool and Feyenoord, including the Dutch Cup. Although there was talk of a possible move to Milan, this did not materialize, and Slot turned down an offer from Fulham.
