The Romanian crew made up of 9 athletes won the gold medal in the 8+1 mixed event at the World Rowing Championship held in Shanghai, leading the race from start to finish. Romania also secured two gold medals and four silver medals at this competition, while the mixed double sculls crew finished in 6th place. The 8+1 mixed event was introduced for the first time at this championship.
