The President of the Romanian Cycling Federation, Cătălin Sprinceana, announced that the Tour of Romania 2023 will debut in Chișinău, a historic premiere, considering that the competition has never started from the territory of Bessarabia. At the launch event, Mihai Covaliu, the president of the Romanian Olympic and Sports Committee, emphasized the importance of sport as an ambassador of unity among nations.
Bogdan Matei, the president of the National Agency for Sport, highlighted the success of the previous edition and promised continued support for promoting health through sport. The competition route will include five stages, totaling over 800 kilometers, and will include races for children and amateurs. This year's edition will introduce a new trophy dedicated to the overall winner, created by Liviu Brezeanu, and will offer eight distinctive jerseys for the different classifications.
The 2025 competition had an audience of over 5 million people, demonstrating the popularity of this sporting event.
