Răzvan Burleanu was re-elected president of the Romanian Football Federation (FRF) for the fourth time, obtaining 258 out of the 264 votes cast. Burleanu, who has been leading the FRF since 2014, thanked his supporters and emphasized the importance of collaboration for the future of Romanian football. During the General Assembly, his opponent, Ilie Drăgan, caused a scandal by contesting the way the elections were conducted. Burleanu commented on the incident, mentioning that the entertainment part was not included on the agenda and quoted a funny message from his wife regarding their daughter's reaction. After the voting process was presented, there was a desire for a quick transition to voting, without speeches, which generated dissatisfaction from Drăgan, creating a tense atmosphere in the hall.
"Thank you for your support, but what matters most is that this vote shows your willingness in terms of how we want to build the future, in terms of these strategic objectives. And I know very well the potential that Romanian football has. Only through this cooperation among all of us can we achieve this goal. As for the election procedure, I regret that it was shown in this way. I received many messages, I only read one, it is from my wife. You know that we have a little girl who will soon turn 6 years old... she asked my wife, 'Mom, who is this little man?' (referring to his opponent Ilie Drăgan)." said Burleanu in front of the members of the FRF General Assembly.
