Rapid Bucharest debuted with a victory in the 2026-2027 edition of the Football Super League, defeating Sepsi OSK Sfântu Gheorghe 1-0 at the Giulești Stadium, in the last match of the first round. The only goal of the encounter was scored by defender Alexandru Pașcanu in the 88th minute, after a prolonged attack by the hosts.
Rapid played with a numerical advantage from the 54th minute, when Alin Dobrosavlevici was sent off. Although the Giulești team scored once in the 59th minute, the goal was disallowed by VAR. The match marked the return of Daniel Pancu to the coaching bench of Rapid, being welcomed with cheers from the supporters.
