Daniel Pancu categorically rejected the idea that Rapid are the favorites going into the derby against FCSB, scheduled for Saturday evening at 21:00, in the 13th round of the SuperLiga regular season. The Giulești team’s coach reacted to claims that his side would have the advantage, despite playing away.
At the press conference ahead of the match, Pancu said he was surprised by the extent of this perception. “Rapid playing at FCSB’s home ground and being favorites. It’s nonsense. Nobody is the favorite,” said the coach, emphasizing that derbies are unpredictable and played under intense pressure.
Rapid’s coach recalled that there had been matches in which FCSB were considered clear favorites, but victory went to the Giulești side. Pancu also warned that expectations of a spectacular match with many goals could be misleading, as such games can even end in a draw after intense battles for every ball.
Pancu noted the strength, speed, and international experience of the FCSB players. The last direct clash, played on 21 December 2025, ended with a victory for the red-and-blue team, 2-1.
