PSG had a promising start to the season, but was eliminated from the Coupe de France in the round of 16, losing 0-1 to local rivals, Paris FC. Coach Luis Enrique used an experimental team, without key players, but PSG started the match as the favorite. Although they dominated the game, with superior possession and more chances, the team failed to score.

In the 64th minute, after a series of substitutions, Paris FC scored through Jonathan Ikone, who scored from a pass by Ilan Kebbal. This defeat leaves PSG to compete only in Ligue 1 and the UEFA Champions League, where they are in 2nd place, one point behind leaders Lens.
