A new trial to clarify the circumstances of Diego Maradona's death will begin on March 17, after the cancellation of the first procedure.

The court in San Isidro, Buenos Aires province, announced that a new trial regarding the death of Argentine football legend Diego Maradona will take place on March 17, 2026. This trial is necessary after the cancellation of the first proceedings in May 2022, which was declared null after two and a half months of hearings.

In this new trial, seven health professionals will be judged for possible negligence in the care of Maradona, who died at the age of 60 following post-operative recovery. Previously, one of the judges was recused due to his involvement in the preparation of a documentary series about the trial, which led to the cancellation of the first proceedings.
